#66 Resource and Healing threat not dividing evenly across all mobs in combat
Status: Open · Area: NPCs & World · Mobs & Creatures
Healing and resource threat is split by mob type first, so a lone mob type gets several times more threat than a group of others.
Current behavior
Healing and resource generating threat formulas are bucketing the threat in a bad way. Currently the generated threat is divided by some type of mob grouping, and THEN divided evenly across this mob grouping. Why is this an issue? If i have 4 mobs of type "Earthborer" and 1 mob of type "Molten Elemental" and I cast a resource generating spell the Molten elemental will get 4x the threat of the earthborers. Using 4 blocks each generating 25 threat to give us a clean threat total generated of 100: Earthborers each get `100 / (2) / (4)` threat for 12.5 total threat on each mob. Molten elemental gets `100 / (2) / (1)` threat for 50 total threat on this mob.
Expected behavior
Healing and resource threat should all be divided across the mobs that we are actively in combat with, regardless of how we could arbitrarily group them. Why does this matter if all aoe threats are broken as long as they are all broken the same? Threat generation is extremely limited, if I am passively generating 4x the threat on 1 random mob without my knowledge then how would I as a player know that I don't need to actively push threat into that mob? Using the scenario in `current behavior`. If I as the tank manually put threat into an `Earthborer` instead of the `Molten Elemental`, the healer will be more susceptible to pulling the molten elemental off me. But Since I generate less passive threat on the earthborers, a dps is more likely to pull those off me. I'm forced into a scenario where its maybe better to attack one type over the other, but its extremely non-intuitive. Worst of all, this is happening silently under the hood and the player may not even know its occuring, they just know that sometimes a healer pulls threat and the mobs hard to get back and sometimes the aoe threat we generate passively holds better than other times. To provide a much bigger example of where this caused actual issues. In ToGC ptr testing we had adds on anub using this odd system and sometimes healers would just GROSSLY overthreat everyone else in the raid by 10s-100s of thousands of threat.
How to reproduce
1. Pull a grouping of different types of mobs 2. Spam a resource generator or an effective heal 3. Compare each mobs rawThreat
