#436 Undead racial Touch of the Grave does not work against enemies immune to life drain effects

Status: Awaiting review · Area: Races & Racials · Undead

The Undead racial Touch of the Grave does nothing against enemies immune to life drain, such as mechanical ones.

Current behavior

Touch of the Grave does not work against enemies that are immune to life drain effects such as Drain Life and Siphon Life. Mechanical enemies are one example. The racial appears to be subject to the same immunity restrictions as those spells, preventing it from dealing damage and providing its associated healing against these targets.

Expected behavior

I believe Touch of the Grave should function against otherwise valid targets, including mechanical enemies, even when those targets are immune to Drain Life and Siphon Life. Immunity specifically to life drain effects should not prevent the racial from dealing damage and healing the player. This appears to be an unintended restriction on the racial, similar to the previously reported excessive miss chance in #369, which was subsequently marked Fixed. However, I have not found confirmation that this particular immunity interaction is intended or unintended.

How to reproduce

1. Log in to an Undead Warlock with Touch of the Grave and Drain Life. Siphon Life can also be used for comparison if learned.

2. Fight an enemy that can be affected by Drain Life. Use attacks or spells that trigger Touch of the Grave and confirm that the racial works.

3. Fight a mechanical enemy that is immune to life drain effects.

4. Confirm that Drain Life, and Siphon Life if available, cannot affect that enemy.

5. Use attacks or spells that normally trigger Touch of the Grave. Allow time for its internal cooldown to expire and repeat across multiple proc opportunities.

6. Observe that Touch of the Grave does not work against the mechanical enemy, despite working against the target used for comparison.
