#375 Tier 1 "Scarce" materials (Frilled Lichen/Pristine Leather/probably Pyrite also) not dropping for characters above level 25

Status: Awaiting review · Area: Items & Loot · Loot & Drop Rates

Characters above level 25 can no longer find the first-tier rare gathering materials, only second-tier ones.

Current behavior

Currently on the beta, the new rare procs from gathering stop dropping at level 26. Characters above 25 appear to get moved to a new loot table and can only gather the "Tier 2" items - Pristine Hide, Rosecap, Bauxite. I'm extremely sure about this behavior for Pristine Leather and Frilled Lichen. I'm less confident, and much less testing has been done, on Pyrite, but I'm lumping it in here under the belief that it's a common system. I and others have tested this behavior extensively across i.e. thousands of skins and herb gathers. It isn't related to profession skill level or zone, the only thing that appears to matter is character level.

Expected behavior

Characters of any level should be able to gather these with the appropriate skill and when skinning the appropriate mobs or picking the relevant herbs. It's no problem for a level 60 to gather Medium Leather or Swiftthistle, I don't know why these would work differently.

How to reproduce

1. Do gathering on a level 1-25 character and see the relevant drops
2. Upon hitting level 26 they will no longer be gatherable.
