#348 Target-of-target shows the correct portrait with the wrong name in combat
Status: Awaiting review · Area: UI & Interface · Unit Frames & Nameplates
In combat, the target-of-target frame often shows the right portrait but the name of a different unit.
Current behavior
While in combat, the target-of-target frame usually shows the correct portrait for the unit my target is attacking, but the name text belongs to a different unit. Example: I am tanking and have aggro on a monster. I target that monster. The target-of-target portrait is mine, which matches the mob actually attacking me, but the name shown is a party member. I confirmed separately that the monster’s target was me, so the portrait is right and the name is wrong. This happens most of the time in combat, not on every single look at the frame.
Expected behavior
The target-of-target frame should show one unit: the unit the current target is targeting. The name and the portrait on that frame should always belong to that same unit. If a monster I have targeted is attacking me, both the name and the portrait should be mine. If it switches to a party member, both should update to that party member together. Standard target-of-target frame behavior: name text and portrait are two views of the same unit.
How to reproduce
1. Join a party. 2. Pull a monster and establish aggro so it is attacking you. 3. Target that monster. 4. Confirm the monster is attacking you (threat, it facing and hitting you, or another unit frame). 5. Look at the target-of-target frame. 6. The portrait matches the unit the monster is actually attacking. The name is often a different party member.
