#34 Addon settings reset after reload despite SavedVariables being written to disk

Status: Closed · Area: UI & Interface · Addons & API

Addon settings reset after /reload or restart even though they are saved to disk, for example BugSack's minimap icon reappearing.

Current behavior

Addon settings reset after `/reload` and do not persist across client restarts. Multiple addons appear affected. I reproduced this with all addons disabled except !BugGrabber and BugSack. For a concrete example, disabling BugSack’s minimap icon hides it immediately, but the icon returns after `/reload`. The corresponding file, `WTF/Account/<account>/SavedVariables/BugSack.lua`, contains the saved setting: lua BugSackLDBIconDB = { } This suggests the setting is written successfully but is not restored correctly, or is cleared during startup.

Expected behavior

Saved addon settings should be restored after reloading or restarting the client.

How to reproduce

On the affected installation:

1. Disable all addons except !BugGrabber and BugSack.
2. Log in and disable BugSack’s minimap icon in its settings.
3. Run `/reload`.
4. Observe that the minimap icon returns.
5. Run `/dump BugSackLDBIconDB` and observe an empty table.
6. Inspect `BugSack.lua` in the account’s SavedVariables folder and compare it with the live value.

Environment and Troubleshooting

- OS: Windows
- Client: WoW Forever Beta, 1.60.1
- Build: 69913
- Interface: 16001
- BugSack version: v12.1.1
- File timestamps confirm settings were recently written.
- The inspected file and folder have write permissions; ample disk space is available.
- Only one WoW game client was running.
