#307 Faerie Fire : 6s cooldown persists after leaving Cat/Bear Form

Status: Not a bug · Area: Classes & Specs · Druid

A Druid's Faerie Fire cooldown from Cat or Bear form carries over, so after shifting out they cannot cast it right away.

Current behavior

Faerie Fire and Faerie Fire (Feral) have been merged into a single spell in Forever. Casting it in Cat Form or Bear Form puts a 6 second cooldown on the spell. If the Druid shifts out of the form, that cooldown stays active. Faerie Fire cannot be cast in caster form until it expires.

Expected behavior

In other versions of the game the two spells were separate, so the cooldowns were too: Faerie Fire (Feral) (Cat/Bear): 6s cooldown. Faerie Fire (caster form): no cooldown, only the GCD. Because they were separate spells, casting one never affected the other. A Druid could use Faerie Fire (Feral) in form, shift out, and cast Faerie Fire straight away with no cooldown. I’m not sure this is a bug. It may be an intended consequence of merging the spells. I’m asking for confirmation that the following is intended: The 6s cooldown applies to the merged spell when it is cast in Cat/Bear Form. That cooldown carries over to caster form, where the spell previously had no cooldown.

How to reproduce

1. Play a Druid that knows Faerie Fire.
2. Shift into Cat Form (or Bear Form).
3. Cast Faerie Fire on a target. A 6 second cooldown starts.
4. Immediately shift out of the form into caster form.
5. Observe that Faerie Fire is still on cooldown for the rest of the 6s.
6. For comparison, cast Faerie Fire in caster form: it has no cooldown, only the GCD.
