#208 Wow Forever Beta - Shred damage not matching tooltip
Status: Not a bug · Area: Classes & Specs · Druid
A player's testing shows rank 1 Shred hitting for less than its tooltip says it should, suggesting a damage calculation error.
Current behavior
Tooltips for the rank 1 of both Claw and Shred abilities show that Claw should do 110% normal damage plus 29 while Shred should do 155% damage plus 54. But when testing as a level 22 druid against a level 22 Murkshallow Snapclaw, my claw did 42-48 and shred did 56-65. Those numbers aren't possible with the tooltips as given. My white hits were between 19-24, which indicate that snapclaw takes roughly 70% physical damage because my full white hits range from 27-35. This means Claw damage is being calculated correctly. The low of 27 * 1.1 + 29 would be 58.7 * 70% damage taken is ~41 while the max of 35 * 1.1 is 47.
Expected behavior
Shred should be doing more damage based on what my white hits and Claw are doing. If it was working like the tooltip, it would be doing 67 ((27 base damage low * 1.55 + 54) * .70 physical damage taken) to 76 ((35 base damage high * 1.55 + 54) * .70 physical damage taken). What could explain the lower damage of 58-65 would be if Shred was calculating it's damage using my white hits after armor... a 19 white hit * 1.55 + 54 would be 83 damage, at 70% damage taken is 58. Likewise, a 24 white hit * 1.55 + 54 would be 91 damage reduced to 64 by the armor. I don't think it's intentional to have Shred calculate it's damage using my white hit damage after armor, effectively getting reduced by the enemy's armor twice.
How to reproduce
1. Get a Druid to level 22 2. Skill Shred and claw 3. Use Shred on an enemy and compare to claw damage and white hits on that enemy.
