#12 [CN] Main name and surname incorrectly share a combined 6 Chinese character limit
Status: Open · Area: Everything Else
In the Chinese client, first and last name share one 6-character limit, unlike the English rule, and the error message is confusing.
Current behavior
In the Chinese client, the main name and surname can contain only 6 Chinese characters in total. For example, if the main name already contains 4 Chinese characters, the surname can contain only 2 more. However, the validation message states: - The name cannot exceed 12 English characters or 6 Chinese characters. This behavior is inconsistent with the English naming rules, where the main name and surname can each contain up to 12 English letters.
Expected behavior
The Chinese-character limit should apply separately to each field: - Main name: up to 6 Chinese characters - Surname: up to 6 Chinese characters This would be consistent with the English rules, where the main name and surname can each contain up to 12 English letters. Alternatively, if the combined 6-character restriction is intended, the validation message should clearly state that the limit applies to the main name and surname combined.
How to reproduce
1. Enter a main name containing 4 Chinese characters. 2. Enter a surname containing 3 Chinese characters. 3. Confirm that each field is individually within the displayed 6-character limit. 4. Attempt to create the character. 5. Observe that the name is rejected because the main name and surname exceed 6 Chinese characters when combined. 6. Compare this with English names, where the main name and surname can each contain up to 12 letters.
