#105 Unbridled Wrath procs about 7.5% per talent point instead of the 12% on its tooltip

Status: Fixed · Area: Classes & Specs · Warrior

Unbridled Wrath triggers about 7.5% per talent point instead of the 12% listed, so about 36% at full points instead of 60%.

Current behavior

Unbridled Wrath procs far less often than its tooltip says. Across 10 combat logs from 2 warriors with known talent ranks (build 1.60.1), it procs on about **7.5% of landed white hits per talent point**, so **about 36% at 5/5 instead of 60%**. The pattern is the same at every rank: | Talent points | Landed white hits | Procs | Measured proc rate | 95% interval | Tooltip | p-value vs tooltip | |---|---|---|---|---|---|---| | 1/5 | 244 | 19 | 7.8% | 5.1% to 11.8% | 12% | 0.048 | | 2/5 | 250 | 41 | 16.4% | 12.3% to 21.5% | 24% | 0.0048 | | 3/5 | 286 | 70 | 24.5% | 19.9% to 29.8% | 36% | 3.4e-05 | | 4/5 | 181 | 66 | 36.5% | 29.8% to 43.7% | 48% | 0.0022 | | 5/5 | 1,149 | 414 | 36.0% | 33.3% to 38.9% | 60% | < 1e-10 | The p-value is from a binomial test against the tooltip's chance at that rank. The 95% interval is from a Beta posterior with a flat prior. 1/5 to 3/5 line up closely with 8% per point, which was Classic's Unbridled Wrath value (40% at 5/5). So it looks like the proc chance may still be the Classic one, while the tooltip shows the new 12% per point. Other observations from the same logs, for context (not part of this report): - Each proc gives the same rage in every log: 1 rage with one-handed weapons and 2 with two-handed weapons, at every rank. - In the three logs we checked this in (Siax and Zomd Aya), no procs came from Heroic Strike or Cleave hits (about 250 of them), only from white hits. **How we counted:** in the combat log, every Unbridled Wrath proc is a `SPELL_ENERGIZE` event from the spell "Unbridled Wrath", including procs that happen at 100 rage, which log 0 rage gained. We divided the number of these events by the number of the player's landed white swings (`SWING_DAMAGE` events). Misses, dodges and parries aren't counted as landed.

Expected behavior

Unbridled Wrath should give a 12% chance per talent point to gain rage when you deal melee damage with a white hit, as its tooltip says: 12%, 24%, 36%, 48% and 60% at ranks 1 to 5.

How to reproduce

1. On a warrior, put points into Unbridled Wrath (5/5 shows the gap most clearly) and nothing else that generates rage on hit.
2. Turn on advanced combat logging (/combatlog).
3. Auto-attack a mob for a few hundred white swings.
4. In the combat log, count the "Unbridled Wrath" SPELL_ENERGIZE events and your landed white swings (SWING_DAMAGE with you as the source).
5. Divide procs by landed swings: at 5/5 it comes out at about 36%, not the 60% the tooltip says.
